Set up a Geo Fence to automatically Arm/Disarm your Alarm System

A Geo-Fence is a virtual geographic boundary, typically established around the installation address, enabling the creation of location-based alerts and rules using one or more phones, known as ‘Geo-Devices’. This functionality facilitates the implementation of automation rules, reminders, and notifications. For instance, a thermostat can be programmed to adjust temperatures based on whether the Geo-Device is within or outside the Geo-Fence radius.

Connected Car

Connected Car allows you to track a vehicle’s location, monitor its diagnostic health, and receive alerts for speeding, towing and more. All of this tracking is done in the Alarm.com app. Plus the Car Connector uses a dedicated cellular connection and has a backup battery. Get 24/7 awareness, even when the car is parked and the engine is off.

Alarm.com Places

When the Car Connector is added to the account, it is automatically included as a Geo-Device. This allows for the automation of smart home settings based on the vehicle’s location. Enabling location services can save time and money by automatically adjusting lights and thermostats, pausing live video recordings, and receiving alerts for open garage doors or unlocked front doors.

Home Automation and Alerts

The following home automation and alerts can be created when Alarm.com Places is configured:

Trigger lights when the car’s Geo-Device leaves or enters a Geo-Fence.
Trigger thermostats when the car’s Geo-Device leaves or enters a Geo-Fence.
Pause video rules while the car’s Geo-Device is within a Geo Fence.
Send alerts if the car’s Geo-Device leaves a Geo-Fence without closing the garage door, locking the front door, or arming the system.

Vehicle Monitoring Notifications

Connected Car allows users to monitor their vehicle’s location, diagnostics, and behavior. When notifications are configured, they receive alerts about vehicle maintenance, unexpected movement, and more. Connected Car provides constant awareness and helpful insights, even when the car is parked with the engine off.
